Catching The Scorpion From Its Tail

Catching The Scorpion From Its Tail

“Modern intellectual is the one, who becomes friend with scorpion and breeds scorpions. The westernist intellectuals of modernists societies are the careless, simple-hearted, incapable and betrayer ones, who catch the scorpion from its tail. The venom of the scorpion that they caught intoxicates them in the first place. But “little they know…” As they are the intellectuals of the society, the writers take their share from this in proportionate with their choices and attitudes. From this point of view, we can interpret the modernization of Turkish literature over the distinction of the ones, who catch the scorpion from its tail, and the ones, who crash the scorpion’s tail. When we take this distinction into consideration, we see that the history of our literature was imposed on us as a praise for those, who “caught the scorpion from its tail” through the curriculum of the schools.”
