In 40 Soruda Türk Öyküsü we tried to draw a conceptual frame of the story, while touching upon much-debated distinction between narrative and story, which is still high on the agenda in our country. In addition to the general features of our history of story and its periods, we tried to issue special pages for the founders of the story genre since the early times and for those, who made substantial contributions to this genre. We placed emphasis on the thematic and stylistic effects of matters like tradition, modernity, and postmodernism on our story, as well as thematic and stylistic problems particular to story. We also wanted to include the relation of story with social processes, language and culture and the author’s world view in our discussions. In this book, in which we aimed at leading up to the general tendencies of today’s story, we think that we have drawn a picture of the Turkish story.
